Kindergarten Objectives
It
is our goal to provide a solid educational foundation for your child that
prepares him/her for success in every area of life.
While we share all the goals and objectives provided by District 21, we
have listed our additional objectives in italics
to more clearly demonstrate the depth of our kindergarten program.
District
21 Philosophy Statement
We recognize that children develop and learn at different rates.
Therefore, the facilitator/role model shall create a safe, caring and
stimulating environment, rich in developmentally appropriate experiences, which
encourage students to be active learners. To
maximize each child’s success, the partnership of home, school and community
is considered to be vital.
At
the kindergarten level, the major focus is on social development, communication
skills (listening, speaking, oral and written language), mathematics and motor
development. Other content areas
are taught through these areas.
BGMS will offer
all of the above and more! The
kindergarten year at BGMS is the
culmination of your child’s Montessori experience. We know your child well and can structure his/her education
to support and strengthen his/her self-esteem as well as his/her academic
foundation. A wide variety of
concrete materials give your kindergartner information and experience with
concepts that will be of value to him/her throughout his elementary education.
